    The Washington County Historical Society is located at 118 E Dickson St, in the Washington-Willow Historic District. From the Fayetteville Town Center at 15 W Mountain St, head east on W Mountain St toward N East Ave for 0.2 miles. Turn left onto E Dickson St and walk for 0.3 miles. The Society will be on your right. No costs involved.

    Several parking options are available near the Washington County Historical Society. A parking deck is located on the corner of Dickson Street and West Avenue. On-street metered parking is also available. Parking can be paid for at pay stations or via the ParkMobile app. Two hours of free parking are available between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.. Street parking on and surrounding Dickson Street costs $1.50 per hour on weekend evenings. Monthly permits are available for the West Avenue Parking Deck for $100 per month.

The Washington County Historical Society (WCHS), established in 1951, is committed to discovering, preserving, and celebrating the history of Washington County, Arkansas. The society operates from Headquarters House, an 1853 Greek Revival home that witnessed the Civil War Battle of Fayetteville. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring artifacts, photographs, and documents that showcase the area's heritage, from Native American history to pioneer life and the Civil War. The WCHS also owns the Archibald Yell Law Office (relocated to the Headquarters House grounds) and the Ridge House, one of Fayetteville's oldest structures. The Ridge House served as a refuge for Sarah Bird Northrup Ridge and her children after the assassination of her Cherokee husband, John Ridge. The society hosts various events, including the Battle of Fayetteville Commemorative, Heritage School, and an annual Ice Cream Social.
