Discover more about Arkansas River Valley Arts Center

The Arkansas River Valley Arts Center (RVAC) in Russellville has been a cornerstone of the community since its founding in 1981. Born from the passion of local artist Richard Barton and a dedicated group of residents, the center's mission is to create opportunities for education, participation, appreciation, and enjoyment of the arts for all people. Today, the RVAC hosts a variety of visual arts displays by well-known artists, a local artists gallery, and occasional theatre performances and concerts. The center features a main gallery space with monthly exhibits and a smaller gallery called the New Age Gallery. In addition to the galleries, the RVAC offers a classroom, gift shop, office, restrooms, a galley kitchen, and a reception area. The center also provides a full schedule of classes and workshops throughout the year for adults and children. Classes include pottery, painting, and other art forms taught by local artists. Summer art camps engage young learners in various artistic activities. The RVAC's main building has a unique history, originally built in 1936 as a changing room for the Russellville City Pool. Later, the pool was filled in, and the building was renovated to house the Arts Center. A separate building, once a chemical storage room, now functions as a kiln room. The old pool area has been transformed into a grassy yard used for outdoor acoustic performances. The RVAC is working to construct an outdoor stage with ADA-compliant ramps to ensure accessibility for everyone. RVAC also organizes quarterly art walks in downtown Russellville in collaboration with the Russellville Downtown Association and Main Street Russellville. The center receives support from memberships, local residents, small corporate and foundation grants, and the Arkansas Arts Council.
