    The Mississippi River State Park Visitor Center is located at 2955 State Hwy 44, Marianna, AR 72360. From Marianna, head east on US-79B/AR-44 for approximately 9 miles. The park entrance and visitor center will be on your right. Parking is available at the visitor center. Limited parking is available at trailheads and recreational areas within the park.

This ridge served as a refuge for American Indians during times of high water and was later explored by early European explorers. The confluence of the St. Francis and Mississippi Rivers, located within the park, was the starting point for the land survey of the Louisiana Purchase in 1815.
