Voskevaz Winery, nestled in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia, offers a unique journey into the heart of Armenian winemaking. Established in 1932, it stands as the oldest operating winery in the country, bearing the name of its village, which translates to "golden bunch". The winery's story is intertwined with family ties and a passion for creating authentic Armenian wines. Voskevaz is more than just a winery; it's a custodian of cultural heritage. The winery combines ancient winemaking traditions with modern technology to create wines that reflect Armenia's rich landscape. Notably, Voskevaz played a pioneering role in reviving the Armenian tradition of winemaking in karases, large clay amphorae used for fermentation and aging. Visitors to Voskevaz can explore the picturesque vineyards and tour the historic cellars. The winery's architecture evokes the feel of a medieval castle, providing a captivating backdrop for wine tasting and exploration. Wine tastings offer a chance to sample a curated selection of local wines and learn about the distinct grape varieties native to Armenia. The winery also hosts events and activities that celebrate local culture, including traditional Armenian music and cuisine. Voskevaz works exclusively with indigenous grapes, such as Areni Noir, Haghtanak, and Voskehat, which reflect the character of this ancient land. The grapes are sourced from old vines, some over 120 years old, adding depth and complexity to the wines. The winery's commitment to quality has been recognized with multiple international wine awards.
