If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Aragatsotn. Head east on the A1 highway towards Yerevan. Continue driving for approximately 25 kilometers. You'll see signs for Geghard Monastery along the way. Turn left onto the road leading to the monastery, which is about 5 kilometers from the main highway. The monastery is located at the coordinates 40.1404412 latitude and 44.8185299 longitude. There is usually ample parking available near the monastery.
Public Transportation
To reach Geghard Monastery via public transportation, you can take a marshrutka (minibus) from the central bus station in Aragatsotn to Garni. The marshrutka departs frequently and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Garni, you can either walk to Geghard Monastery, which is about 3 kilometers away, or catch a taxi. If you choose to walk, follow the signs to Geghard Monastery; the route is scenic and will take approximately 40 minutes on foot. If you opt for a taxi, the fare should be around 1,000 AMD (about $2.50 USD).
