If you are traveling by car from Ararat to Mount Ararat, start by heading southwest on the M-4 highway. Follow the signs toward the town of Artashat. Once you reach Artashat, continue driving until you reach the Armenian border with Turkey. The border crossing at 'Bagratashen' is the most common point. Be sure to have your passport and any necessary visas ready for the border crossing, as fees may apply. Once across the border, follow the signs to Dogubayazit, and from there, you can see Mount Ararat in the distance. The total driving distance is approximately 50 km and may take around 1.5 hours, depending on border crossing times.

To reach Mount Ararat using public transportation, start by taking a minibus (marshrutka) from Ararat to Yerevan, which costs around 500 AMD (approximately $1.30). The ride to Yerevan takes about 1 hour. Once in Yerevan, take another marshrutka to Artashat. From Artashat, you may need to hire a taxi or arrange for a private transfer to the border crossing at Bagratashen. The taxi fare may range from 2000-4000 AMD ($5-$10), depending on negotiation. After crossing into Turkey, you can take a local bus from Dogubayazit to a viewpoint of Mount Ararat.
