Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car within Arevik National Park, head towards the Areni village. From the center of Areni, take the road leading towards the direction of P6G4+472. The Magellan cave is located approximately 6 km from Areni. Follow the signs for the cave and ensure to drive carefully, as the roads can be narrow and winding. Once you reach the cave area, there is limited parking available nearby.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Magellan cave using public transportation, take a local minibus (marshrutka) from Yerevan to Areni village. The journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Areni, you can either walk or hire a taxi for the last 6 km to Magellan cave. Walking will take approximately 1.5 hours, so hiring a taxi is recommended, especially in warmer temperatures. Expect to pay around 2000-3000 AMD for the taxi ride.

    If you are already in the vicinity of Magellan cave and prefer to walk, ensure to have a good map or GPS. From the nearest point of access (Areni village), take the road leading towards P6G4+472.
