Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Arevik National Park. Follow the road signs leading to Garni and Geghard Monastery. The drive will take approximately 40 minutes (around 30 km). As you approach the vicinity of Geghard, you will see signs indicating the monastery. You can park your car at the designated parking area near the entrance. Note that parking may incur a small fee, typically around 500 AMD.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, first take a bus or minibus from the nearest town or city (like Goris or Yerevan) to Garni. From Garni, you will find local taxis or shared transport options that can take you to Geghard Monastery. The taxi ride from Garni to Geghard takes about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately 1,500-2,000 AMD. Ensure to confirm the price before starting your journey. The taxi will drop you off at the entrance of the monastery.
Walking
If you are already close to Geghard Monastery and prefer to walk, from the nearest bus stop in Garni, it's a scenic 4 km hike to the monastery. Follow the main road leading towards the mountains, and you will eventually see signs pointing towards the monastery. The walk will take about 1 hour, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The path can be steep in some sections, so be prepared for a little exertion.
