For those using public transportation, first take a bus or minibus from the nearest town or city (like Goris or Yerevan) to Garni. From Garni, you will find local taxis or shared transport options that can take you to Geghard Monastery. The taxi ride from Garni to Geghard takes about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately 1,500-2,000 AMD. Ensure to confirm the price before starting your journey. The taxi will drop you off at the entrance of the monastery.

If you are already close to Geghard Monastery and prefer to walk, from the nearest bus stop in Garni, it's a scenic 4 km hike to the monastery. The path can be steep in some sections, so be prepared for a little exertion.
