From the village of Kober, the monastery is accessible only by foot. The walk involves a steep climb of about 10-15 minutes. Follow the path uphill, passing through the village and its farm animals, until you reach the monastery complex.
Public Transport
From Yerevan, take a bus or train to Alaverdi. From Alaverdi, take a marshrutka (minibus) towards Vanadzor or Noyemberyan and ask to be dropped off near the village of Kober. Note that marshrutkas may only pass twice daily. From Kober, follow the walking directions to the monastery. Bus fare from Yerevan to Alaverdi is approximately $19-$27.
Taxi
From Yerevan, a taxi to Kobayr Monastery costs approximately $40-$55 and takes around 2 hours and 17 minutes. The taxi can drop you off at the village of Kober, from where you can walk to the monastery. Alternatively, arrange for a taxi from Alaverdi, which is closer to the monastery.
