Shaki Waterfall: Armenia's Natural Jewel

Shaki Waterfall is one of Armenia's most beautiful natural landmarks, drawing visitors with its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Situated in the Syunik region, close to the town of Sisian, the waterfall is formed by the Shaki River, a tributary of the Vorotan River. The water plunges from a height of 18 meters over a ledge of solidified basalt lava into a deep gorge. The area surrounding Shaki Waterfall is rich in both natural beauty and historical significance. The steep gorge is filled with rocks and caves, where traces of human activity dating back to the Stone Age have been discovered. According to local legend, the waterfall is named after a beautiful girl named Shake who, to avoid capture by invaders, threw herself from the cliff; her dress transformed into the cascading water. Visitors can enjoy the inspiring melody of the water and the scent of the mountains, making it a refreshing escape. A winding road leads to the site, followed by a narrow path to the waterfall.
