Getting There

  • Car

    From Haghartsin Monastery, head south on the main road (M4) towards Dilijan. After approximately 9 kilometers, turn left onto a smaller road. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach a fork. Take the right path which leads you toward Atan Lake. Continue on this road for another 2 kilometers, and you'll see Atan Lake on your left. There are no tolls along this route.

  • Public Transportation

    From Haghartsin Monastery, walk back to the main road (M4) and catch a marshrutka (minibus) heading to Dilijan. Once in Dilijan, ask the driver or a local for a marshrutka to Atan, or take a taxi, which should cost around 2000-3000 AMD. The journey from Dilijan to Atan Lake will take about 20-30 minutes. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near Atan Lake.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk from Haghartsin Monastery to Atan Lake, exit the monastery and take the path leading south towards the main road (M4). From there, follow the same route as described for cars, which is approximately 16 kilometers. This will take you about 4-5 hours of walking, so be prepared with water and snacks for the journey.
