Areni-1 Cave, nestled near Areni village in Armenia, is an archaeological treasure trove dating back to the Chalcolithic period. It's famed as the site of the world's oldest known winery (circa 4000 BC) and the discovery of a 5,500-year-old leather shoe. Visitors explore chambers revealing ancient winemaking equipment and remnants of early human habitation.

Walking
From the center of Areni village, the cave is located a short walk away. Follow the main road through the village, keeping an eye out for signs pointing towards Areni-1 Cave. The entrance is located behind the Edem Restaurant. The walk takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
Public Transport
If arriving by marshrutka (minibus) from Yerevan or other nearby towns, disembark in the center of Areni village. From there, follow the walking directions to reach the cave entrance. Marshrutka fares from Yerevan are approximately 1200 AMD.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Areni village. A short taxi ride from anywhere in the village to Areni-1 Cave should cost around 1000-2000 AMD. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
