Getting there

Walking

From the center of Jermuk town, the waterfall is accessible by foot. Head east towards the main road and follow the path leading to Jermuk Waterfall. The walk is approximately 1 km and takes about 15-20 minutes. The trail offers scenic views of the surrounding area. There are no entrance fees to visit Jermuk Waterfall.

Public Transport

From the main bus station in Jermuk, take a minibus (marshrutka) towards Jermuk Waterfall. The fare is typically around 200 AMD. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off at the closest point to the waterfall (about 1 km away). From there, walk along a marked path leading to the waterfall. Follow the signs that indicate the hiking trail. There are no entrance fees to visit Jermuk Waterfall.

Taxi

From anywhere in Jermuk, a taxi ride to Jermuk Waterfall is a convenient option. The taxi fare should be around 2,000-3,000 AMD. The ride is short, and the driver will drop you off near the waterfall entrance. From there, it's a short walk to the waterfall viewing point. There are no entrance fees to visit Jermuk Waterfall.

Jermuk Waterfall, gracefully situated in the Vayots Dzor province, is a captivating spectacle and a highlight of the resort town of Jermuk. Renowned for its therapeutic mineral waters and pristine landscapes, Jermuk has drawn visitors since the Soviet era. The waterfall, also known as 'Mermaid's Hair' ( ջրվեժ), cascades down approximately 70 meters, its waters flowing over the rocks in a way that resembles flowing hair.The waterfall's name is derived from a local legend. According to the tale, a nobleman's beautiful daughter fell in love with a shepherd's son. Forbidden from seeing each other, the nobleman cursed his daughter, decreeing she would become a mermaid if she ever met the shepherd again. One night, instead of a rope, she threw her long braid to her lover, instantly transforming into a mermaid, her hair becoming the waterfall.Jermuk Waterfall is most impressive during spring and early summer when melting snow increases the water flow. The surrounding area provides opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and enjoying the fresh mountain air. The waterfall contributes to the town's therapeutic landscape and overall appeal.
