In the 18th century, it served as a stronghold in the liberation movement led by David Bek. The village's fortress was a military base for Mkhitar Sparapet, a national hero. The village was once one of the largest in Eastern Armenia. By the end of the 19th century, it had a population of over 4,000, which nearly doubled by the early 20th century.The highlight of Khndzoresk is the 160-meter-long swinging bridge, which connects the two sides of the village.
