Trchkan Waterfall: Armenia's Jumping Wonder

Trchkan Waterfall, often called the 'Armenian Niagara,' is a breathtaking cascade on the Chichkhan River, straddling the Shirak and Lori provinces. In winter, the waterfall freezes, creating a stunning ice-climbing opportunity. In 2011, Trchkan Waterfall became a symbol of environmental activism when a planned hydroelectric plant threatened its existence. Public outcry and dedicated efforts led to the project's cancellation and the waterfall's designation as a specially protected area.
