Getting There

Walking
From Vardanants Square in the city center, head northwest on A. Kahnazanyan Street, then turn left onto Tigran Mets Avenue. Turn right onto Gorky Street, followed by a left onto Sardarapat Street. Continue, and the fortress entrance will be on the right. The walk is roughly 3 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes.

From Gyumri's central bus station (Avtokayaran at the end of Shahumyan Street), take a minibus (marshrutka) toward Artik or Amasia. Inform the driver to stop near the Black Fortress (QRJG+X4P, Gyumri). From the drop-off point, walk a short distance back towards the main road and then up Sardarapat Street; the fortress will be on the right. Be prepared for an uphill walk of approximately 1.5 kilometers. The fare is approximately 100 AMD.
