If driving from Yerevan, take the M6 highway north towards Tbilisi. After approximately 185 km, follow signs to Akhtala. The monastery is located near the town of Akhtala. Free parking is available near the monastery.

From Yerevan, take a bus or minibus (marshrutka) from Kilikia Bus Station to Alaverdi. From Alaverdi, take a taxi to Akhtala Monastery, approximately 10 km away. The taxi fare should be around 1,500-2,000 AMD.
