Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards the town of Ijevan, which is a key hub in Tavush. From Ijevan, take the road towards the village of Tsaghkashat. The drive from Ijevan to Tsaghkashat takes approximately 20 minutes. Once in Tsaghkashat, follow the signs leading to the Surb Hovhannes Monastery Complex. The monastery is located about 10 minutes from the village, accessible via a small winding road. Make sure to park in the designated area near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Surb Hovhannes Monastery Complex via public transportation, first take a marshrutka (minibus) from the central bus station in Ijevan to Tsaghkashat. The marshrutka ride will take around 30 minutes. Upon reaching Tsaghkashat, you can either walk the remaining 3 kilometers to the monastery or ask a local for a taxi, which should cost around 1,000 AMD (approximately $2.50). The taxi ride will only take about 10 minutes.
