    From Yerevan, take bus line 284 from the Yerevan Gai bus station to Garni. The bus departs every four hours, and the journey takes approximately 50 minutes, costing $1–2. From Garni, you can take a taxi to the Khosrov Forest State Reserve entrance. The taxi ride is about 30 minutes and should cost around 2000-3000 AMD.

Khosrov Forest State Reserve, a natural haven in Armenia, is steeped in history and biodiversity. Founded in the 4th century (334-338) by King Khosrov III Kotak, it is one of the oldest protected areas globally. The reserve was initially created to improve the climate around Artashat and Dvin, conserve flora and fauna, and serve as a royal hunting ground.Today, the reserve spans approximately 23,213.5 hectares, with elevations ranging from 700 to 2,800 meters. It protects juniper and oak forests dating back to the Tertiary Period, along with semi-desert and phrygana landscapes. The reserve is home to over 1800 plant species, representing more than 50% of Armenia's flora, and a diverse array of fauna, including species listed in the Red Book of Armenia.Visitors can explore ancient monasteries such as Havuts Tar, Aghjots Vank, and Geghmahovit, as well as the Kakavaberd Fortress. The reserve also features natural wonders like the Vahagn and Astghik waterfalls and the Symphony of Stones in the Azat River gorge. Hiking trails wind through diverse landscapes, offering breathtaking views and opportunities for wildlife spotting.
