Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Adelaide city center, the Adelaide Zoo is approximately a 20-minute walk. Head north along King William Road, then turn left onto North Terrace. Continue east along North Terrace, crossing the River Torrens. The zoo entrance will be on your right, adjacent to the Adelaide Botanic Garden.

  • Public Transport

    Adelaide Zoo is easily accessible by public transport. Several bus routes stop directly outside the zoo on Frome Road (Stop 2). Check the Adelaide Metro website for the most up-to-date bus schedules and routes. A single trip bus fare is around $5.

  • Taxi/Ride-Share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available throughout Adelaide. A taxi or ride-share from the city center to the Adelaide Zoo will take approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The estimated cost is $10-$15.

  • Driving

    If driving to Adelaide Zoo, be aware that there is no parking available on the zoo grounds. Limited metered parking is available on Plane Tree Drive, War Memorial Drive, and Frome Road. Wilson Parking on Frome Road (next to the old Royal Adelaide Hospital site) offers a special $7 flat rate all-day parking on weekends. UPark Frome Street is another option, with rates starting at $5 for short stays and $26 for 4+ hours. Parking on Plane Tree Drive is managed by the Adelaide Botanic Garden, with rates of $3.50/hour (4-hour max) and $10 for extended all-day parking. Be sure to check parking restrictions and fees before parking. Accessible parking spaces are available on Plane Tree Drive.
