Simpsons Gap, known as Rungutjirpa to the Arrernte people, is a prominent gap in the West MacDonnell Ranges, 18 kilometers west of Alice Springs. This scenic gorge features towering cliffs, a permanent waterhole, and diverse wildlife, including the black-footed rock-wallaby. It's a significant spiritual site with various walking trails and picnic facilities.

Driving
From Alice Springs, head west on Larapinta Drive for approximately 18km. Turn right onto Darken Drive and continue for about 6km to reach the Simpsons Gap car park. The road is sealed and easily accessible by 2WD vehicles. Parking is free , and the area is open from 7am to 9pm. A Northern Territory Parks Pass may be required.
Cycling
Take the Simpsons Gap Bicycle Path, a sealed 17km track that begins opposite Flynn's Grave, which is 7km from the Alice Springs CBD along Larapinta Drive. Follow the path for a scenic and relatively easy ride to Simpsons Gap. Remember to bring water, sun protection, and allow for 1-2 hours of cycling time.
