The Station Cafe, nestled in Atherton's Platypus Park, provides a unique culinary experience within beautifully restored railway carriages. The cafe's warm atmosphere makes it an ideal place for a relaxing meal, enhanced by the charming historical setting.The cafe is part of the Atherton-Herberton Historic Railway, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the region's railway heritage. The railway dates back to 1910, and the organization has been working since 2003 to resurrect the line between Platypus Park and Herberton. In addition to the cafe, visitors can explore a model railway display that showcases the Atherton-Herberton railway, adding to the nostalgic experience. The Station Cafe is dog-friendly.The Atherton Tablelands Rail Trail starts at the Mountain Bike Trails in Atherton and heads north through Tolga. The station precinct at Atherton is really great, with coffee and cake in one of the old railway carriages on site.
