Discovering Gallo Dairyland

Perched on a working dairy farm along East Barron Road in the verdant Atherton Tablelands, Gallo Dairyland captivates with its blend of authentic farm life and gourmet indulgence. The aroma of ripening cheese and melting chocolate wafts through the air long before you reach the buildings, drawing you into a world of artisanal craftsmanship. Here, a herd of around 350 cows is milked daily in a rotary shed, while visitors observe cheesemakers and chocolatiers at work from viewing areas.

Cheesemaking and Tastings

The on-site cheese factory produces approximately 500 kilos of award-winning cheese weekly using traditional European techniques and the freshest local milk. Explore 17 varieties, including standout options like creamy Gallozola blue cheese and soft Rainforest cheese infused with spring onions and chives. Lactose-free gourmet selections cater to diverse palates. Cheese-tasting platters allow easy sampling, perfect for discovering favorites amid the hum of production.

Chocolate Delights

Complementing the dairy focus, the chocolatiers handcraft small batches using premium Swiss couverture, yielding about a tonne every two months across 55 flavors. The top-selling chocolate macadamia nut treat exemplifies their irresistible creations. Watch the meticulous process and browse the retail area for unique souvenirs straight from the source.

Farm Experiences

Daily at 2 PM, witness the fascinating cow milking demonstration as the herd files into the shed, accompanied by native bird calls. The animal nursery provides hands-on interaction with farm animals, delighting children and offering insights into rural life. These elements transform a simple visit into an engaging, educational outing.

Dining with a View

The air-conditioned café and restaurant serve hot meals, light lunches, and desserts from 10am to 2pm, with refreshments available all day. Bookings are recommended to secure a table overlooking the picturesque countryside. Pair your meal with fresh cheeses or chocolates for a truly local feast.
