Getting There

  • Car

If you are driving from Cairns, head north on the Captain Cook Highway (National Route 1) for approximately 75 km. You will pass through the town of Port Douglas. Continue straight until you reach Mossman, where you will turn left onto Mossman-Daintree Road. Follow this road until you reach the Daintree River Ferry. Take the ferry across the river (note: there is a small fee for the ferry, around AUD 30 for a standard vehicle). Once across, continue on the Cape Tribulation Road for about 30 km until you see the signs for Mount Alexandra Lookout. The lookout is located on the left side of the road. Parking is available nearby.

  • Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Cairns to Port Douglas. Services like the Sunbus operate regularly from Cairns to Port Douglas. From Port Douglas, you can catch a shuttle bus to the Daintree Village. Once in Daintree Village, look for local tour operators that offer shuttle services to Mount Alexandra Lookout. It's advisable to book your spot in advance, as these shuttles can fill up quickly, especially during peak tourist season. Expect to pay about AUD 50-70 for the shuttle service, which may include a guided tour.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi or use rideshare services like Uber from Cairns. This is the most convenient but can be pricey, with fares typically ranging from AUD 150 to AUD 250 one way, depending on traffic and time of day.
