Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Cairns, which is about 140 kilometers south of Wongaling Beach. Take the Captain Cook Highway (A1) north towards Port Douglas. After approximately 60 kilometers, merge onto the Mossman-Daintree Road (B2) and continue until you reach the intersection with the Bruce Highway (A1). Turn left onto the Bruce Highway and continue north for about 50 kilometers. Take the exit for Tully (A1) and follow the signs towards Wongaling Beach. Once you arrive in Wongaling Beach, turn onto Wongaling Beach Rd. The Big Cassowary is located at 32 Wongaling Beach Rd, Wongaling Beach QLD 4852. Keep an eye out for signs marking the attraction.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Cairns to Mission Beach operated by local bus services. The journey can take around 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the service. Once you arrive at Mission Beach, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Big Cassowary, as it is approximately 10 kilometers away from the town center. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as services may vary.
Taxi/Rideshare
If you are already in Wongaling Beach or nearby, you can hail a taxi or use rideshare apps like Uber to get to the Big Cassowary. The fare should be relatively inexpensive given the short distance, but it's always good to check the app for an estimate before booking your ride.
