Car
If you are driving from Cairns, take the Captain Cook Highway (A1) south towards Port Douglas. After approximately 60 km, continue onto the Mossman-Daintree Road and then follow the signs to the Daintree National Park. After exploring the area, head back to the A1 and continue south. You will need to take the exit for the Bruce Highway (A1) towards Brisbane. Follow the Bruce Highway for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, then take the exit for Maleny. Follow the signs to Maleny and then to Mountain View Road. McCarthy's Lookout is located at 563 Mountain View Rd, Maleny QLD 4552.
Public Transportation
From Cairns, you can take a Greyhound bus to the town of Maleny. Once you arrive at the Maleny bus stop, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach McCarthy's Lookout, which is approximately 10 km away from the town center. Be sure to confirm the taxi fare with the driver before departing.
Walking
If you are already in Maleny and wish to walk to McCarthy's Lookout, head out of the town center towards Mountain View Road. The walk is about 5 km and will take approximately 1 hour. Follow Mountain View Road until you reach the lookout point. Please ensure you are wearing comfortable walking shoes and carry water, as the road can be steep in some areas.
