Discover more about Curtis Falls Viewing Platform

Curtis Falls Viewing Platform provides an enchanting glimpse into the rainforest ecosystem of Tamborine Mountain. Located in the Joalah section of Tamborine National Park, the viewing platform is reached via a 1.1km return trail that is considered a Grade 3 walk. The walk, which typically takes around 30-45 minutes, is suitable for most visitors with a moderate level of fitness. The trail descends through a wet eucalypt forest, characterized by towering flooded gums, before transitioning into a lush, subtropical rainforest. Along the way, keep an eye out for native flora and fauna, including staghorn ferns, crows nest ferns, and strangler figs. The sounds of the forest, including the mimicry call of the Albert's lyrebird, add to the immersive experience. Curtis Falls itself is a sight to behold, with water cascading over ancient basalt columns into a rock pool below. Depending on the season, the waterfall can range from a gentle curtain of water to a raging torrent. The basalt columns are a legacy of the region's rich volcanic history. Access to the rock pool is restricted to protect the local ecosystem, including glow-worms and platypus populations. However, the viewing platform provides an excellent vantage point to admire the falls and the surrounding rainforest.
