Walking
From Main Beach, head north along the beachfront promenade. Enjoy the beautiful views as you walk towards Surfers Paradise. Continue walking for about 20 minutes until you reach the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway and Elkhorn Avenue. The Matey Monument is located in the vicinity of this intersection.
Public Transport (Bus)
If you prefer public transport, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located at the corner of Main Beach Parade and the Gold Coast Highway. Catch the Surfside Bus Service Route 700 towards Tweed Heads. Get off at the stop for Surfers Paradise, which should take about 10-15 minutes. From the bus stop, walk towards the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway and Elkhorn Avenue. The Matey Monument is a short walk from there.
Bike Rental
Another option is to rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Main Beach. Once you have a bike, ride along the beachfront pathway heading north towards Surfers Paradise. The ride should take around 10 minutes. Upon reaching the Gold Coast Highway, park your bike and walk towards the intersection of the highway and Elkhorn Avenue to find the Matey Monument.
