Car
If you're traveling by car, head to Dunkeld, located at the southern edge of the Grampians National Park. From the center of Dunkeld, drive north on Grampians Rd (C216) for about 10 km. You will see signs for Mount Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug) on your left. Turn left onto the Mount Abrupt Road and follow it to the car park at the trailhead. The drive should take around 15-20 minutes. Parking is available for free.
Public Transportation
To reach Mount Abrupt using public transportation, take a V/Line train from Melbourne to Dunkeld, which takes approximately 3 hours. Once you arrive at the Dunkeld train station, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to the trailhead. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes and may cost around AUD 30-40. Be sure to check the train schedules in advance, as they may vary.
Walking
If you are already in Dunkeld and prefer to walk, you can start from the town center. Head north on Grampians Rd until you reach the turnoff for Mount Abrupt Road. The walk to the trailhead is approximately 10 km and will take about 2-3 hours. Be prepared with plenty of water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
