Discover more about Mount Langi Ghiran Vineyard

Mount Langi Ghiran, whose name means 'home of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo' in the local Aboriginal language, is a jewel in the Grampians wine region. The vineyard is set against the backdrop of the Great Dividing Range, approximately 190km west of Melbourne. The unique location, with its towering granite cliffs and loamy red soils, creates an ideal environment for producing cool-climate wines. The first vines were planted on the property in the late 1800s, but it was the Fratin family who truly established Mount Langi Ghiran in 1969. They planted the iconic “Langi” Old Block Shiraz, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Today, the winery is known for its Shiraz, but also produces a range of other wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Barbera, Grenache, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Viognier. Visitors can explore the modern, architecturally designed cellar door, sample award-winning wines, and learn about the winery's history. Wine tasting options range from standard tastings of the Billi Billi and Cliff Edge ranges to premium tastings of Mount Langi Ghiran icons. The on-site cafe offers a menu to complement the wine selection. The vineyard is also a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the scenery, with picnic spots available under the chestnut trees. Mount Langi Ghiran is committed to sustainable winegrowing, promoting biodiversity and minimizing environmental impact. Winemaker Adam Louder and Viticulturist Damien Sheehan continue the legacy of producing high-quality, cool-climate wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Grampians.
