Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards Cairns, Queensland. From Cairns, take the Captain Cook Highway (A1) north for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the Port of Cairns. Once at the port, park your car at one of the designated parking areas (note that parking fees may apply). After parking, catch a ferry to Fitzroy Island. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes and tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Fitzroy Island Lighthouse Walk Lookout using public transportation, take the Sunbus from your location in Cairns to the Cairns Central Station. From there, walk to the Cairns Marina (approximately a 10-minute walk) and board the ferry to Fitzroy Island. The ferry departs regularly, but be sure to check the schedule ahead of time. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes to Fitzroy Island. Once on the island, follow the walking trails to the lookout point. Note that ferry tickets will incur an additional cost.

• Ferry

  After arriving on Fitzroy Island via ferry, disembark and head towards the walking trail that leads to the Fitzroy Island Lighthouse Walk Lookout. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. It is recommended to wear appropriate footwear as the path may have uneven terrain. The hike to the lookout takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to bring water and sun protection, as there are limited facilities along the trail.
