The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes and tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal.

To reach the Fitzroy Island Lighthouse Walk Lookout using public transportation, take the Sunbus from your location in Cairns to the Cairns Central Station. From there, walk to the Cairns Marina (approximately a 10-minute walk) and board the ferry to Fitzroy Island. The ferry departs regularly, but be sure to check the schedule ahead of time. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes to Fitzroy Island. Once on the island, follow the walking trails to the lookout point. Note that ferry tickets will incur an additional cost.
