Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from the center of Great Southern, head east on South Coast Highway (A1) towards Albany. Follow the A1 for approximately 200 km until you reach the junction with the Great Ocean Road (B100). Continue onto the Great Ocean Road and drive for another 60 km until you reach Apollo Bay. The Great Ocean Walk starts at the Apollo Bay Visitor Centre, located at 100 Great Ocean Rd, Apollo Bay VIC 3233. Make sure to check for parking availability near the Visitor Centre.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Great Ocean Walk using public transportation, you can take a bus from major towns in Great Southern, such as Albany, to Geelong. From Geelong, transfer to a V/Line bus heading to Apollo Bay. The bus service operates several times a day, but it’s advisable to check the timetable in advance. Upon arriving in Apollo Bay, the Visitor Centre is just a short walk from the bus stop, where you can find information on the Great Ocean Walk.

• Walking

  Once you arrive at the Apollo Bay Visitor Centre, you can start your hike on the Great Ocean Walk. Ensure you have a map or brochure, which you can obtain from the Visitor Centre. The walk offers stunning coastal views and various entry points, so you can choose how far you wish to hike. Be prepared with appropriate hiking gear and check the weather conditions before you set out.
