Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Moes Rock car park, the walk to the rock formation is approximately 200m return. The easy, straightforward track involves some stairs and takes you through a miniature jungle-like environment. Follow the path to the end for views of Cape St George Historic Lighthouse and the bay.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Moes Rock using public transport, take a train from Sydney to Bomaderry (Nowra). From there, transfer to a bus towards Huskisson or Vincentia. Alight at a stop closest to Booderee National Park and then follow Jervis Bay Road. From the park entrance, follow signs to Moes Rock. Keep in mind that Booderee National Park may require an entry fee. Bus fare from Nowra to Huskisson/Vincentia is approximately $3 - $5.

  • Driving

    From Jervis Bay, follow Jervis Bay Road towards Booderee National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Moes Rock. Note that entry fees may apply for Booderee National Park. Parking is available at the Moes Rock car park. Be aware that Old Lighthouse Road has some potholes, so drive carefully.

A short, 200m return walk from the car park leads you through lush vegetation to the rock formations. In 1993, a local angler was saved by a life ring installed by a father who had tragically lost his son in a rock fishing accident at the same spot. This event spurred the creation of the Angel Ring program, which has since installed numerous life buoys at dangerous rock fishing locations along the NSW coastline. Today, Moes Rock remains a popular spot for fishing and photography. Anglers can try their luck at catching marlin and tuna, while photographers can capture the beauty of the rugged coastline and the historic lighthouse.
