If you're traveling by car, head to the nearest major town, Mount Gambier. From Mount Gambier, take the A66 highway towards Millicent. After approximately 30 km, turn onto the B101 (the Princes Highway) towards Beachport. Continue on this road for about 40 km until you reach Joanna. Once in Joanna, look for Wonambi Rd and follow it for approximately 4 km. Stick-Tomato Cave will be on your left, well signposted. Make sure your vehicle is fuelled up, as services may be limited along some stretches.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transport, take a bus from Mount Gambier to Millicent. From Millicent, you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach Joanna, as public transport options directly to Joanna may be limited. The taxi ride from Millicent to Joanna is approximately 30 km and could cost around $50-$70 AUD. Once you arrive in Joanna, follow Wonambi Rd for about 4 km until you reach Stick-Tomato Cave.
Walking
If you are staying in Joanna and prefer to walk, make sure to wear sturdy shoes as the terrain can be uneven. From the center of Joanna, head towards Wonambi Rd and follow it for approximately 4 km. It’s advisable to carry water and snacks, especially on warm days. The walk may take around 1 hour depending on your pace.
