Getting There

  If you are driving to West Point Beach, start by heading towards the main road, Nelly Bay Road. Follow Nelly Bay Road until you reach the junction with the Magnetic Island Road, which is about 3 km from Nelly Bay. Turn left onto Magnetic Island Road and continue to follow it for approximately 7 km. Look for signs directing you to West Point. The road will eventually lead you to an unnamed road that will take you directly to West Point Beach. There is no entry fee for the beach area itself.

• Public Transportation

  To reach West Point Beach via public transport, take the bus service from Nelly Bay to Horseshoe Bay. The bus leaves from the Nelly Bay ferry terminal, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the Horseshoe Bay stop and transfer to a taxi or rideshare service, as there are no direct bus services to West Point Beach from here. The taxi fare will vary, but expect to pay around AUD 20-30 for the trip to West Point Beach. Make sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time, as they can change.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider cycling to West Point Beach. You can rent a bike from various rental services available in Nelly Bay. Start by heading onto Magnetic Island Road, following the same route as if you were driving. The distance is about 10 km, and it should take around 30-40 minutes by bike. Ensure you have water and sun protection, as there are limited shaded areas along the path.

• Walking

  If you're feeling energetic, you can also hike to West Point Beach, though it is quite a long walk. Start at Nelly Bay and walk along the coastline, following the path towards Horseshoe Bay. This route is scenic but will take several hours, so it's recommended only for those who are prepared for a long trek. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
