The gallery officially opened on May 25, 1956, and has since evolved into a cultural cornerstone of the community.The gallery's permanent collection is considered one of Victoria's best-kept secrets, featuring the largest single collection of paintings by Anglo-Irish artist Sir William Orpen, as well as works by Edgar Degas and Sir Frank Brangwyn.
