The precinct encompasses a diverse range of facilities, including a regional art gallery with five exhibition spaces, a 500-seat performing arts theatre, the Rio Vista Historic House, a sculpture park, and the Vista Cafe Bar. The Arts Centre's story began in 1944 when Senator R.D. Elliott bequeathed a valuable art collection to the Mildura City Council. The gallery officially opened on May 25, 1956, and has since evolved into a cultural cornerstone of the community. The gallery's permanent collection is considered one of Victoria's best-kept secrets, featuring the largest single collection of paintings by Anglo-Irish artist Sir William Orpen, as well as works by Edgar Degas and Sir Frank Brangwyn. The Centre also hosts a rotating program of exhibitions, showcasing local, national and international artists. The Rio Vista Historic House offers visitors a glimpse into the history of the Chaffey family and their role in the development of Mildura. The sculpture park provides a tranquil outdoor space to enjoy art, while the Vista Cafe Bar offers a spot to relax and enjoy local produce.
