Yarra Yering: A Pioneer of the Yarra Valley

Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a visionary with degrees in botany and winemaking, established the vineyard in 1969, planting the first vines since 1921. His philosophy was to produce wines that reflected the site and the season, a tradition that continues today. The winery is known for its distinctive, age-worthy wines, including the flagship Dry Red Wine No. 1, a Bordeaux-style blend, and the Underhill Shiraz. Winemaker Sarah Crowe, named Winemaker of the Year in 2017 and 2021, expertly crafts these wines, blending traditional techniques with innovation. The 29-hectare vineyard is dry-grown, promoting concentrated flavors and complexity. Visitors to Yarra Yering can experience the beauty of the estate, with its landscaped gardens and historic buildings. Wine tastings are available, offering a chance to sample the acclaimed wines and learn about the winery's history and winemaking process. The cellar door provides a welcoming atmosphere for both seasoned wine enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Please note that there is a tasting fee of $10 per person, which is refundable upon purchase for individuals, but non-refundable for groups of 5 or more. Groups of up to 12 are welcome by appointment.
