Junction Cabin: A Mountain Retreat in Wellington Park

Getting There

• Car

  From the city center of Hobart, head southwest on Elizabeth Street toward Campbell Street. Continue onto Davey Street, following signs for South Arm Highway/A3. Merge onto the A1 highway and follow it until you reach the junction for the A10 highway. Take the exit onto the A10 highway towards Mount Wellington. Continue on the A10 until you reach the Fern Tree area. From Fern Tree, take the Old Farm Fire Trail. Follow this trail for approximately 4.5 kilometers until you reach Junction Cabin. Be aware that parking may be limited near the cabin.

• Public Transport

  Take the Metro Tasmania bus service from Hobart to Fern Tree. You can catch the bus from the city center at the bus terminal. Check the Metro Tasmania website for the latest schedules and fares. Once you arrive at Fern Tree, you will need to walk approximately 4.5 kilometers along the Old Farm Fire Trail to reach Junction Cabin. Ensure you have appropriate walking shoes and water for the hike.

• Walking

  If you're already in the Fern Tree area, you can walk to Junction Cabin directly from there. Starting from the Fern Tree Inn, head southwest on the Old Farm Fire Trail. This trail is well-marked and will lead you through beautiful scenery for about 4.5 kilometers to Junction Cabin. The walking path is moderately difficult, so be prepared for a hike.
