Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Bendigo, which is approximately 30 km away. Head east on the Calder Freeway (M79) towards Melbourne. Take the exit toward Harcourt. Follow the signs to Harcourt North. Once in Harcourt North, navigate to the intersection of McIvor Highway and Harcourt-Sutton Grange Road. From there, turn onto Harcourt-Sutton Grange Road and continue for about 5 km. You will see the signs leading to Lang's Lookout. There is no entry fee for the lookout itself, but ensure your vehicle is in good condition for the dirt roads leading up to the lookout.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a V/Line service from Melbourne to Bendigo. Once in Bendigo, transfer to a local bus service towards Harcourt. Check the local bus schedules as they may vary. After reaching Harcourt, you will need to either arrange for a taxi, rideshare service, or find local transport to reach Lang's Lookout, as public transport does not directly service the lookout. Be prepared for additional costs for the taxi or rideshare option, which may vary based on distance.
Hiking
If you are adventurous and enjoy hiking, you can hike to Lang's Lookout from nearby trails. Starting from the Harcourt region, look for trail markers that guide you towards the lookout. Make sure to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate footwear, and check the weather conditions before embarking on your hike. This option is free, but takes more time and effort compared to driving.
