Getting There

  • Car

    From Melbourne, take the M1 highway (Princes Freeway) towards Geelong. Continue on the M1 until you reach the exit for the A1 towards Warrnambool. Follow the A1 for approximately 2.5 hours until you reach Peterborough. Once in Peterborough, follow the signs to The Grotto, which is located on The Grotto Track. There is parking available near the entrance to the site.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach The Grotto using public transportation, take a train from Melbourne to Geelong. From Geelong, board a V/Line bus bound for Warrnambool. This bus will stop in Peterborough. Once you arrive in Peterborough, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers (about 20-25 minutes) to reach The Grotto. Follow The Grotto Track signs from the bus stop to the attraction. Please check the V/Line website for the latest schedule and fares.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Peterborough and prefer walking, The Grotto is accessible on foot. Start from the town center and head towards The Grotto Track. The walk is about 1.5 kilometers and takes roughly 20-25 minutes. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes, as the path may vary in terrain.
