Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Townsville. From Townsville, take the ferry from Breakwater Ferry Terminal to Magnetic Island, which operates regularly throughout the day. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately AUD 36 for a return trip. Once on Magnetic Island, drive towards Horseshoe Bay. Follow the signs for Horseshoe Bay, and upon arrival, look for the Forts Walk trailhead located at the eastern end of the beach. Parking is available near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start your journey at the Townsville Transit Centre. From there, catch a bus to the Breakwater Ferry Terminal. After arriving at the terminal, board the ferry to Magnetic Island, which costs about AUD 36 for a return ticket. Upon reaching Magnetic Island, you can take local buses that operate on the island to reach Horseshoe Bay. The bus service is reliable, and you can ask the driver to drop you off at Horseshoe Bay. Once there, head towards the Forts Walk trailhead at the eastern end of Horseshoe Bay.
Walking
If you are already on Magnetic Island and staying near Horseshoe Bay, you can walk to the Forts Walk trailhead. The walk from the main beach area is pleasant and will take around 15-20 minutes.
