From Sydney Basin, head north on the M1 Pacific Motorway. Take the exit towards Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Continue on the main road until you reach the park entrance. There is a parking area near the start of The Basin track and Mackerel track. Note that there may be a parking fee of approximately AUD 12 for a day pass, so be prepared with cash or a card.

Public Transportation
Take a train from Sydney Central Station to Cowan Station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From Cowan Station, you can catch a bus (Bus 591) to the park entrance. Make sure to check the timetable in advance as buses may not run frequently. The bus fare is around AUD 5. Once at the park entrance, follow the signs to The Basin track and Mackerel track.

If you park your car at the nearby parking area, you will begin your hike on The Basin track. The track is approximately 2.5 km and takes you through beautiful bushland.
