From anywhere in Tasman Peninsula, make your way to Triabunna, which is approximately a 30-minute drive. Follow the Tasman Highway (A3) and take the exit towards Triabunna. Once in Triabunna, head to the marina to board the ferry to Maria Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately AUD 45 for a return trip. Be sure to check the ferry schedule ahead of time as it varies by season.

Once you arrive at Maria Island on the ferry, you will disembark at the Darlington wharf. From there, you can either walk or rent a bicycle to explore the island. The Painted Cliffs are located about 7 km from Darlington. The walk to the cliffs takes around 1.5 to 2 hours one way. Follow the marked walking trails, which are well signposted. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
