Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Coles Bay Road, which is the main access road to Freycinet National Park. From central Tasmanian Wilderness areas, follow the signs to Bicheno or Swansea. Once you reach Swansea, take the A3 highway south towards Coles Bay. Continue on the A3 for approximately 30 kilometers until you see the signs for Coles Bay. Turn onto Coles Bay Road, and follow it directly into the park. The park entrance is well marked, and there is a parking area available for visitors. Note that there is a park entry fee of approximately AUD 24 per vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Hobart to Bicheno. The bus service runs several times a day. Once you arrive in Bicheno, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining 30 kilometers to Coles Bay. Alternatively, check if any local tour operators offer shuttle services directly to Freycinet National Park from Bicheno. Keep in mind to plan your schedule accordingly, as public transport may have limited frequency. Ensure you have some cash available as some taxi services may not accept card payments.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, cycling to Freycinet National Park is an option! If you are starting from Bicheno, you can rent a bicycle and ride along the scenic coastal roads to Coles Bay. The ride is approximately 30 kilometers and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey. Once you reach Coles Bay, you can lock your bike at designated bike racks at the park entrance. The route is mostly flat but be prepared for some occasional hills.
