Car
If you are traveling by car from Darwin, take the Stuart Highway (National Route 1) heading south. The drive to Mataranka Falls is approximately 420 kilometers and will take about 4.5 to 5 hours. Follow the Stuart Highway until you reach the town of Mataranka. Once in Mataranka, turn onto Roper River Road, which leads directly to Mataranka Falls. The falls are located within Elsey National Park. Be sure to keep an eye out for signage indicating the turn-off to the falls. There is no entry fee for the park.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, you can take a bus service from Darwin to Mataranka. Companies like Greyhound Australia run services that stop in Mataranka. The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.
