    From Darwin, take the Stuart Highway (National Route 1) south towards Adelaide River. Follow the signs for the A1 highway. Continue on the A1 for approximately 1,800 km (about 18-20 hours of driving). Take the exit onto the Tasman Highway (A3) towards St. Helens. Follow the A3 for about 200 km until you reach the junction with the Arthur Highway (A9). Turn onto the A9 and follow it for around 40 km directly to Port Arthur. Once in Port Arthur, look for signs directing you to the Port Arthur Historic Site.
