To reach The Bungle Bungles from Darwin, take the Stuart Highway southbound. After approximately 6 hours (about 600 km), turn onto the Great Northern Highway (National Route 1) towards Kununurra. From Kununurra, continue on the Great Northern Highway for about 53 km until you reach the turn-off for the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles). Follow the Bungle Bungles Road, which is unsealed and requires a 4WD vehicle for the last 53 km. Be prepared for rough conditions and allow 1.5 to 2 hours to travel this section. Note that a small fee is charged for entry into the park. Ensure your vehicle is well-fueled, as services are limited once you leave Kununurra.
Public Transportation
If traveling by public transportation, you can take a bus service from Darwin to Kununurra. This journey takes around 36 hours and may require overnight accommodation. Once in Kununurra, you can book a tour that includes transport to The Bungle Bungles.
