Car
From Western District, head towards the nearest major highway, the Princes Highway (A1). Follow the A1 northeast until you reach the M1 Pacific Motorway. Continue on the M1, which will lead you towards Sydney. Once you approach the city, follow signs for the Sydney CBD and merge onto the Eastern Distributor (M1). Take the exit towards Woolloomooloo and follow the signs for the Sydney Opera House, which will direct you to Macquarie Street. The Opera House is located at Bennelong Point, and there is parking available nearby, but this may incur a cost of approximately AUD 20-40 depending on the duration of your stay.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transport, start by taking a V/Line train from any major station in Western District to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne. From Southern Cross, transfer to a train heading to Sydney Central Station (this journey may take around 12 hours). Once you arrive at Sydney Central, take the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line train towards Circular Quay. Alight at Circular Quay Station. From there, it’s a short 10-minute walk to the Sydney Opera House. Follow the pedestrian paths leading towards the waterfront, passing through the Royal Botanic Garden, and you will find the Opera House at Bennelong Point.
Bus
You can also take a bus from various locations in the Western District to Melbourne. Once in Melbourne, transfer to a bus service that travels to Sydney. Check with local bus companies for schedules. Once you arrive at Sydney's central bus terminal, follow the same directions as for public transport (train) by taking a train to Circular Quay and walking to the Opera House.
