Car
If you are driving, start from Airlie Beach, which is a common base for tourists in the Whitsundays. Head south on Shute Harbour Road (Route 68) towards Shute Harbour. Continue on this road for approximately 10 minutes until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Shute Harbour Road and follow it until you reach the ferry terminal. From here, you will need to take a ferry to Nara Inlet. Ferries operate regularly from Shute Harbour to the Whitsunday Islands. Once you arrive at the nearest stop, follow the local signs or ask a local for directions to Nara Inlet.
Public Transportation
To reach Nara Inlet via public transportation, start at the Whitsunday Transit bus terminal in Airlie Beach. Board the bus heading to Shute Harbour. The bus ride typically takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the Shute Harbour terminal, purchase a ferry ticket to the Whitsunday Islands. Ferries run frequently, so you won’t have to wait long. Upon arrival at the closest ferry terminal to Nara Inlet, ask the ferry staff or locals for directions to Nara Inlet, as it may require a short hike or additional boat transfer.
