Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Troubridge Island.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
To reach Troubridge Island from any location in Yorke Peninsula, start by driving to the town of Edithburgh. From Edithburgh, head south on the Yorke Highway (B85) for about 12 kilometers. Look for the sign indicating the Troubridge Island Lighthouse and turn onto Troubridge Road. Continue on Troubridge Road until you reach the end where you will find the Troubridge Island boat ramp. Note that you will need to arrange for a boat transfer to access the island as it is not directly accessible by car.
Boat Transfer
Once you arrive at the Troubridge Island boat ramp, you will need to book a boat transfer service to reach Troubridge Island. There are local charters available that operate from the Edithburgh area. It's advisable to book in advance, especially during peak tourist season. The cost for a round trip boat transfer can vary but expect to pay around AUD 40-50 per person. Make sure to check the weather conditions, as boat services may be affected by rough seas.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, take a bus to Edithburgh from Adelaide or nearby towns. From the Edithburgh bus stop, you can either walk to the boat ramp or arrange for a taxi service. Keep in mind that public transport options may be limited, so check the schedules in advance and plan your trip accordingly. Once at the boat ramp, follow the same process as mentioned above for boat transfers to Troubridge Island.
